"Kamuno supports Uri Cantonal Bank's growth strategy for a secure future"
UKB

Why did UKB found the subsidiary Kamuno AG?
Dr. Heini Sommer: Urner Kantonalbank is planning carefully for the future and wants to secure its independence in the long term. As the smallest cantonal bank, controlled growth is of central importance to us and we must consciously tap into existing and new market niches. Because we want to be there for the people of Uri for a long time to come - and also for our employees and the canton of Uri. The establishment of this subsidiary is just one of many pieces of the puzzle that will secure our future - all measures are part of our sustainable and careful growth strategy.
What potential does UKB see in Kamuno?
Christoph Bugnon: We see great potential in the area of offers for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). There are over 600,000 SMEs in Switzerland, many of which have high financing requirements. However, the proportion of loan financing via banks is very low. The processes for borrowers are often so complex and time-consuming that many SMEs are discouraged from entering into credit transactions with banks. With Kamuno, we want to offer these companies simplified processes and position ourselves specifically in this market.
What gap does Kamuno fill?
Dr. Heini Sommer: Kamuno is not simply filling a gap. On the contrary: with Kamuno, we as Urner Kantonalbank are actively involved in a broad and promising future market with a lot of potential. In addition, our subsidiary Kamuno uses technologies that are completely new to us. The knowledge and experience gained in this way will also help us in our core business to further improve our products and make them even more user-friendly.
What specific goals are being pursued with Kamuno?
Christoph Bugnon: The corporate client business is an important strategic growth area for us, both within and outside the canton of Uri. With Kamuno, we offer an innovative, uncomplicated and unique solution for fast and secure credit applications and are actively positioning ourselves in this market.
What is the added value for UKB customers?
Christoph Bugnon: With Kamuno, we are occupying an important future market. Banking transactions are increasingly being conducted online. We don't just want to keep pace with this trend, we want to actively shape it and develop offers at an early stage. At the same time, it remains our goal to be the competent, reliable and personal point of contact for the people of Uri. We also want to represent a profitable investment for our owner, the canton of Uri. The creation of qualified jobs in the canton of Uri and a positive contribution to economic development are further key benefits that we are striving for. We are well on the way to achieving this.
